Alpyn Beauty – Plantgenius Line-Filling Eye Balm

First, many thanks to Alpyn Beauty for gifting me this eye balm! I’ve been using this eye balm for about 1-2 weeks now and I feel like I have formed an opinion on it.

PACKAGING

There’s not a lot I have to comment about with the packaging but the glass pot has a nice weight to it. I’m not going to lie, pots aren’t my favorite thing when it comes to skincare. No matter how clean my hands are, I always think about germs when I use them, especially when the product is coming near sensitive areas like my eyes. 🙁

PRODUCT

This is definitely an eye balm and a little goes a long way so it will last a while. It’s very hydrating and luminous as you apply it. As it dries down, it’s comfortable without being overly shiny or greasy.

As someone in their mid-30s, I was interested in the line-filling claims as I do have some fine lines under my eyes. I found that it did create the illusion of line filling on one of my under eyes but not on the other despite using what I think was the same amount of product. I should note that this effect is only temporary, for me at least.

One thing to note, this product does contain caffeine. I’ve been abstaining from caffeine since July ’19 due to health reasons, and I was kicking myself for not being more thorough before testing it out. I’m not sure if the effects of caffeine are the same in skincare and say beverages, but I definitely had some killer headaches this week that felt like caffeine withdrawals. Perhaps that’s only in my head but it was something I wanted to note.

FINAL THOUGHTS

I’ll be blunt, it’s just OK and I don’t think it’s worth the price tag. I’m used to Sephora prices but this one is a bit steep for me. I feel like I’ve tried other balms/creams in the past and they were on par with this product but for a fraction of the price. (ie: The DHC concentrated eye cream for $35.)

Since it has caffeine in the product, and I’m abstaining from caffeine, I won’t continue to use it. The latter part is on me as I didn’t give the ingredients a close enough inspection before requesting the product.
